D. Alan Orr holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge. His research and teaching interests focus on the intellectual and cultural history of early modern Britain and Ireland (1500-1800).
His book, Treason and the State: Law, Politics, and Ideology in the English Civil War, appeared with Cambridge University Press in 2002 (paperback 2007). He has subsequently published articles in leading peer-reviewed venues including The Historical Journal, Huntington Library Quarterly, Journal of British Studies, Journal of the History of Ideas, Reformation and Renaissance Review, and Sixteenth Century Journal.
